Cutaneous iontophoresis of adrenergic agonists can mimic in vivo neural effects on vasodilation

چکیده

Iontophoresis utilizes electrical current to non-invasively deliver agents through the skin. This pilot study sought determine if iontophoresis could be paired with laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) administer adrenergic and cholinergic agonists measure subsequent changes in cutaneous blood flow. We hypothesized that administration would produce vascular tone consistent those seen during other delivery methods. iontophoresed phenylephrine, clonidine, isoproterenol, acetylcholine forearm of one generally healthy 44-year-old female using existing or adapted protocols. also created half-strength protocols goal establishing dose-response relations. quantified erythrocyte flux via LDF beat-by-beat arterial pressure finger photoplethysmography. After baseline, each drug was administered its half full-strength protocols, separated by a washout period. Finally, we stimulated maximal flow at site non-noxious local heating 43°C. Cutaneous conductance (CVC; flux/ mean pressure) calculated baseline following iontophoresis. vehicle (deionized water) alone as control, same analysis. The responses matched our predictions exception which caused vasodilation. Vehicle Full-strength application led more pronounced change CVC, suggesting relation might established additional data. Applications certain higher CVC than “maximal”, possibly raising need alter method for Overall, findings indicate can used effectively non-glabrous skin affect tone. non-invasive technique investigate these whose neural receptor characteristics have been altered consequence disease.

Effects of adrenergic agonists and antagonists on immediate cutaneous reactions in bronchial asthma.

Asthmatic patients who showed an allergic skin reaction to house-dust antigen (HD) were injected intradermally with a mixture of HD and a various dose of isoproterenol (Isopr) or propranolol (Propr). In some cases Isopr clearly suppressed the formation of the wheal, but in some others Isopr did not much affect the allergic skin reaction. Also Propr increased markedly the skin reaction of some p...

Effects of p-Adrenergic Agonists on Cellular Metabolism

Presentations at previous Reciprocal Meat Conferences (Ricks et al., 1984; Beermann et al., 1985) and the presentations immediately preceding mine have described in detail the influence of p-adrenergic agonists, such as clenbuterol, cimaterol or ractopamine, on growth and carcass traits in livestock. We now can say with some certainty that the feeding of p-adrenergic agents to livestock increas...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Parasympathetic Effects on in Vivo Rat Heart Can Be Regulated Through an ax-Adrenergic Receptor

A prejunctional mechanism involving an a,-adrenergic receptor may exert control on the release of acetylcholine from parasympathetic nerve endings in the heart. To test this hypothesis in vivo, rats were prepared for electrical stimulation of the vagus nerves. Blood pressures and heart rates were monitored, and the animals were treated with a-agonists and a-antagonists. The a,-selective agonist...
